Free websites - some criteria for selection - a preliminary

 1

At first sight, many seem OK.  Once you start delving, plenty only give half the picture.  In order for your website to stand out, personally-created graphics are a big help.

2

The ability of any system to handle graphics taken from the Internet is an important criterion.  If you're working on your own, it's a matter of getting stuck in.  If you're working with others, you can learn a lot from them.

3

Yola is pretty poor at storing graphics so that you can identify them when you want to use them again.

Well, the page has enough on it but you can keep the special graphic with the road-mender working in a cloud of dust, shovelling for all he's worth.

But it isn't as easy as that.  Generally, you can't save header graphics!  More to come on that much later.
